Big Ten Basketball: Power ranking the conference (Nov. 26-Dec. 3)
The Wisconsin Badgers have by no means had an impressive season so far. The Badgers are really struggling to find replacements for the seniors that led the team last year. But, it is very difficult to rule the Badgers out just yet, as Ethan Happ is capable of putting up some big-time numbers.
Wisconsin Badgers Basketball
The Badgers always tend to find a way to turn it around, even when they are struggling. Not only this, but they have had a very tough schedule thus far. They have had to play teams like Xavier, Baylor, and UCLA, all games in which they lost. This week did not get any easier for the Badgers either.
Virginia hosted Wisconsin in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Nov. 27. The Badgers struggled to score in that game, falling 49-37. The Badgers don’t have much scoring outside of Happ so far.
The Badgers then got completely dominated in their Big Ten opener on Saturday, falling in Madison to Ohio State 83-58. This was a bad loss for the Badgers and definitely is a step back for them moving forward. However, they did bounce back with a big road victory over Penn State on Nov. 4.
Outside of Happ (16.2 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game), the Badgers have just two players who average more than 8.0 points per game in guards Brad Davison (11.5 ppg) and D’Mitrik Trice (10.2 ppg). The Badgers have really struggled offensively, averaging just 68.1 points per game so far this season.
Schedule for this week:
- Wisconsin at Temple (4-2) on Dec. 6
- Marquette (5-3) at Wisconsin on Dec. 9
