Duke surprisingly lost to Boston College, but, don’t worry, Blue Devils’ fans, this team will be fine.

The Duke Blue Devils lost their first game of the season on the road to the Boston College Eagles. The shocking upset was one that few saw coming, as the Eagles’ talented guards, Jerome Robinson and Ky Bowman, absolutely tore apart Duke’s defense.

Marvin Bagley played a great game, as usual, securing yet another double-double, but an absolutely dreadful game from Grayson Allen offensively and an inability to defend the Eagles as a team led to this disappointing loss. Boston College came into this game understanding that Bagley would get his points no matter what and instead focused on forcing bad shots from the rest of the team.

I’m not saying that I told you so, Blue Devils, but several of the things I highlighted for the game against Boston College were to find a way to avoid looking ahead, contain Robinson and Bowman, and limit turnovers – none of which they seemed to do.

In fact, the Blue Devils allowed for Bowman and Robinson to combine for 54 points – and let 10 point per game scorer Jordan Chatman go for 24. Robinson was one assist away from a triple-double. These two players are fantastic guards but should not have devastated Duke’s defense like this.

Like I (and everyone else) have said a million times before, the good news is that these are all fixable problems, and Duke should be fine. Here are five reasons why.
