Oklahoma and Trae Young edged out the undefeated TCU Horned Frogs by just one point on Saturday afternoon.

Opening Big 12 play against an undefeated team on the road is not something any team really wants to do in college basketball.

However, few teams boast as talented of a player as Trae Young, and the Oklahoma Sooners were able to pull off the upset victory over the No. 10 TCU Horned Frogs, 90-89.

Young scored 39 points with 15 free throws and, while the rest of the starters struggled offensively, Kameron McGusty came in and had himself a game, going 8-15 for 22 points.

TCU proved themselves to be one of the best teams in college basketball as well, but this team cannot win when Jaylen Fisher does not play well. His 0 points stand out on the box score and the Tennessee native’s inconsistency could really hurt this team down the stretch.

That being said, TCU should not worry about this loss. his Oklahoma team is a legitimate national title contender, and it is time for the rest of the country to take notice of this team outside of the Young-hype.

Look, Kemba Walker did it for UConn, and I think Young can do it for the Sooners as well. Not only is he climbing up draft boards faster than a five-star recruit who commits to Duke, but he is also proving that he belongs there.

Hot streaks win games in tournament play, and there are few players in college basketball who can get as hot as Young. If he can keep this up, or even if he does not and saves it until March, we should expect him to lead this team very, very far this season.

Oklahoma should move into the top 10 next week, and I expected them to back that up with their play against their next opponents, the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
