Virginia Basketball: Late game turnover seals win over Boston College
By Taylor Sturm
Virginia was able to hold off Boston College at home in what was a surprisingly good game between two potential NCAA Tournament teams.
The Boston College Eagles came into their game against the No. 9 Virginia Cavaliers as the No. 1 team in the ACC, upsetting the top-ranked Duke Blue Devils around a week or so ago.
A team that surprisingly boasts the record to potentially compete for an NCAA Tournament berth, Boston College could basically seal a trip to the Big Dance with a win over Virginia and just avoiding bad losses for the remainder of the season.
That being said, the Cavaliers had other ideas, as they wanted to begin ACC play with a home victory and enter conference play high on confidence.
For those of you who love up and down offense in a college basketball game, this was not one for you. However, if you love defense, drama, and big shots from star players, this was exactly the game for you.
BC’s Jerome Robinson continues to prove himself one of the best scorers in the country, as he we9nt 12-22 against Virginia’s stifling defense for 29 points. Ky Bowman had an off night (most likely due to the Cavalier defense) and finished just 2-10 for five points. Jordan Chatman stayed hot from three going 4-5 for a total of 18 points.
Virginia was led not by Kyle Guy as expected but by Ty Jerome (what is up with Jeromes in this game) who went for 31 points. If Jerome can continue to score and take some pressure off of Guy, Virginia could make a deep ACC and NCAA Tournament run.
