The newly-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks will travel to Starkville to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Who comes out on top?

TV Schedule: Tuesday, Jan. 2, 9:00 p.m. ET, SEC Network

Arena: Humphrey Coliseum, Starkville, Mississippi

In case you have yet to notice, the Ben Howland-led Mississippi State Bulldogs have 12 wins so far this season. Wins over Green Bay, Stephen F. Austin, and Dayton were nice, but there has yet to be a “great” win on the resume for the Bulldogs. Their lone loss came to a then-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats’ team on the road, so a few key wins down the stretch in the SEC could get Mississippi State finally back to the NCAA Tournament.

The Bulldogs will have an opportunity to get a good win, as they take on the No. 22 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks at home in Humphrey Coliseum.

Arkansas got lucky with a home win over the Tennessee Volunteers in overtime, but a win is a win and we should see both teams in March. Finally ranked, the Razorbacks need to work hard to hold onto that ranking, as their next two games are both on the road.

While Jaylen Barford and Daryl Macon have been phenomenal so far this season, Daniel Gafford came in as a freshman and filled a mammoth size whole left by Moses Kingsley.

This team will only get better as we head towards March, which is why, even with Mississippi State being underrated and at home, I have to give this win to the Razorbacks.

Mississippi State will have multiple other opportunities to make the Big Dance, but I do not think it happens on Tuesday.

Prediction: Arkansas 84, Mississippi State 75
