Creighton vs. St. John’s: College basketball game preview, TV schedule
By Taylor Sturm
The Creighton Bluejays recently fell out of the top 25, but can they get back in with a solid home win over the St. John’s Red Storm?
TV Schedule: Tuesday, Jan. 3, 8:00 p.m. ET, Fox Sports 1
Arena: CenturyLink Center Omaha, Omaha, Nebraska
Apparently, a road loss to an extremely talented, ranked Seton Hall Pirates’ squad was enough to knock the then-No. 25 Creighton Bluejays out of the top 25. The Big East is extremely competitive, and we are going to see this kind of top 25 swapping for those who are borderline top 25 teams for the entirety of the season.
That being said, Creighton should be back soon, as they followed up the disappointing loss with an absolutely dominating performance over the Providence Friars, winning 83-64. Their next game will be against the St. John’s Red Storm, and a win would assure their return to the majority of rankings.
The Red Storm have begun Big East play with two losses after bouncing back from their loss to the now top five Arizona State Sun Devils with two straight wins in the non-conference portion of the schedule. St. John’s was blown out at home by Providence, but was able to fight hard against Seton Hall and should head into this game with a lot of confidence.
Unfortunately, Creighton boasts one of the most exciting offenses in the game, and, when the Bluejays are on, they are not going to lose. With this game being at home, I expect Creighton’s offense to be firing on all cylinders.
St. John’s will fall to 0-3 in Big East play and panic-mode will have begun in full for the Red Storm.
