The Creighton Bluejays look to jump back into the top 25 by avoiding a bad loss when they take on the Georgetown Hoyas on Saturday afternoon.

TV Schedule: Saturday, Jan. 6, 12:00 PM, FOX

Arena: Capital One Arena, Washington, D.C.

On a day filled with some really good college basketball games, one of the games you would not think would be on a national network is the Big East showdown between the Creighton Bluejays and Georgetown Hoyas.

Georgetown, who had the worst non-conference schedule in the history of college basketball (okay, I might be exaggerating), has been able to hang with decent teams but unable to win against them. Patrick Ewing has done a fine job recruiting and an even better job turning this squad into competitors but has been unable to get this team over the hump that is closing out big games against good opponents.

The Hoyas will have an opportunity to just that at home, as they face 11-3 Creighton.

All three of Creighton’s losses this season have come against teams that were then ranked and the Bluejays have proven time and time again that they are likely NCAA Tournament bound. However, a loss to a team like Georgetown, even on the road, could be devastating, as their two marquee wins over UCLA and Northwestern are beginning to look worse and worse.

Creighton can still make the Big Dance just by winning the games they are supposed to win at this point and likely does not need a miracle upset over Xavier or Villanova. However, a road slip-up on national television could change everything.

The good news is that I doubt that happens. Ewing has his team playing well, but not well enough to win. Creighton’s elite offense crushes Georgetown in what should be a high-scoring, entertaining game.

Prediction: Creighton 95, Georgetown 87
