The Oklahoma Sooners continue to prove that they are one of the best teams in college basketball. Can they keep it going against the defense of West Virginia?

TV Schedule: Saturday, Jan. 6, 7:15 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Arena: WVU Coliseum, Morgantown, West Virginia

Two of the best teams in college basketball are in the Big 12, and, at least right now, neither of them are the Kansas Jayhawks.

The No. 7 Oklahoma Sooners, led by star player Trae Young, have just one loss on the season to the Arkansas Razorbacks, who are likely an NCAA Tournament team and boast one of the best guard tandems (and offenses) in college basketball.

After being a fantastic TCU Horned Frogs team on the road and holding off the Oklahoma State Cowboys at home, Oklahoma will travel to face the No. 6 West Virginia Mountaineers.

West Virginia lost their opening game of the season to the Texas A&M Aggies (what’s up with the Big 12 struggling against the SEC) but has gone undefeated since then. Their balanced offense and defense (both of which rank in the top 35) makes them one of the most consistent teams in college basketball – something that bodes well for the NCAA Tournament.

Unfortunately for the Mountaineers, until a team shows that they can stop Young, there is no way I’m picking another team apart from Oklahoma to win. However, if any team can stop Young in the Big 12, it will be WVU’s defense, so this is a must-watch game for every casual fan. I still can’t believe it’s on ESPN2 and not ESPN, but that’s beside the point.

Next: Where do these teams rank in current bracketology?

Don’t worry, though. Both of these teams will go far in March; the Sooners just get the upper hand this time around.
