As more Big 12 basketball games occur, teams are starting to separate themselves from each other. Where do they rank in this week’s rankings?

The Big 12 once again had a very entertaining week, with many close games, including some that went to overtime. There were three things that stood out the most from this week that will have an impact down the road in this league.

The first thing is that the obituary writing for Kansas needs to stop, at least until mid-February. The Jayhawks got a huge victory over TCU this week and already has two road wins in their pocket. Now it’s true that Allen Fieldhouse has already suffered two defeats, but it’s still one of the most feared environments to play at.

One of those teams who beat Kansas at their place is Texas Tech, whose undefeated start in league play has caught everyone by surprise. The biggest person in shock is me, who had the Red Raiders last in the rankings right before conference play started (oops). But there’s no question this team is for real, and they have a player who needs to have his name right up there with the other top guards in this league.

The last thing to think about is that there will be multiple teams left out the NCAA tournament. All 10 came to conference play with a legitimate shot depending on how things went, but clearly, there are a few teams that will suffer more losses than an at-large bid can endure.

Who are those teams that’s already in trouble? And is there a new No. 1 team? Find out now in this week’s Big 12 rankings.
