One of the questions that we may never get an answer to is “how good is Texas?” This could be the most athletic team in the conference, and next to West Virginia, the second-best defensive team. The problem continues to be the offense, and where the Longhorns get it from.

Take for example the overtime win against Iowa State. Tulane transfer Dylan Osetkowski had a career-high 25 points in the win, including the go-ahead basket to help his team prevail. Mo Bamba had another double-double, with 10 points and 16 rebounds.

Matt Coleman had his best all-around game to date, with 12 points, seven boards, and nine assists. To top it all of, Eric Davis contributed off the bench with 15 points.

The Longhorns scored the same number of points in regulation against Baylor with 60, but gave up 69 points in the loss. The offense for Texas died in the second half, scoring just 20 points and absolutely nothing in the final five minutes.

Osetkowski struggled against the Bear’s big men, going 3/12 in the game. The veteran guards for Texas, Davis and Kerwin Roach, combined to shoot 3/20 from the field.

There also seems to be a rule that only one Texas freshman can have a good game each time out because there hasn’t yet been a time that multiple guys can do it. Guard Jase Febres was it this time, with a season-high 18 points.

The status of sophomore Andrew Jones continues to fluctuate, with him able to play in the Iowa State game off the bench, but an illness kept him out of the Baylor battle. Once he gets back to 100%, this will be a different Texas team.
