Some unexpected results happened this week in the Mountain West basketball conference. This means that there’s a new No. 1 team in this week’s rankings.

Last week, the Mountain West completed their first round of games, and for the most part, the results were as expected. I said in my previous week’s rankings that there were up to six teams that had an opportunity to compete for an at-large bid.

Unfortunately, the results this week have damaged those prospects, with the league getting just one bid becoming more and more a legitimate possibility. That’s because two teams, UNLV and Fresno State, both suffered very bad road losses.

One team that had an interesting week was Wyoming, who took on the top two teams in the conference, with both games coming down to the final minutes.

The team that probably had it toughest off the court was Nevada, with many players on the team dealing with illnesses. How did the Wolf Pack perform this week, and where do they and other 10 teams rank on this week’s Mountain West power rankings?
