Some of the biggest mid-major games of the season happened this weekend. Here are a few quick recaps of everything you need to know.

This past Saturday wasn’t filled with many marquee games, but there were still huge victories obtained by a bunch of teams.

This happened particularly in the mid-major world, where the top teams in a few leagues went face to face.

Here are three games of big importance from the weekend:

New Mexico State defeats Utah Valley

Grand Canyon was supposed to be the biggest challenge for perennial WAC power New Mexico State 17-3 (5-0), but the Aggies dispatched them easily. Then Utah Valley 15-6 (4-1) emerged as a true threat, coming in on an eight-game winning streak and was the last team to actually win at the Aggies home.

However, that didn’t matter, as New Mexico State handled them as well. The runaway leader for WAC player of the year Zach Lofton, who had 24 points thanks to seven made three-pointers. Sidy N’Dir had 17 points, while hitting four of the team’s 15 made long balls.

Kenneth Ogbe led the Wolverines with 13 points, but Akolda Manyang was a no-show, scoring just one points on 0/3 shooting. Utah Valley is a much improved team, but they along with Grand Canyon should fight for second, because the Aggies are in a league of their own.
