marquette golden eagles. 7. team. 2385. Marquette did not play a game in the last seven days. In last week’s rankings, they were tied for the No. 5 spot with Butler and Providence. Considering both the Friars and the Bulldogs picked up wins this week while the Golden Eagles stayed idle, those two teams moved ahead. In short, it is by no fault of Marquette’s that they dropped this week.
In fact, with a huge stretch of games coming up, Marquette has the potential to skyrocket up the rankings by next week. First, the team travels to the Cintas Center to take on Xavier. This will be an extremely difficult matchup as Xavier plays aggressive defense that could cause problems for Marquette. In addition, winning on the road is hard, especially against someone as good as the Musketeers.

After this date, the Golden Eagles return home to the Bradley Center to take on Villanova. In recent weeks, the Wildcats have made their position as the top team in the conference and the nation abundantly clear. For a team sitting on the bubble like Marquette, a home date with Villanova represents a massive opportunity.

The two players to watch for Marquette are the same as always. <a href=. 13-6 (4-3).
