It’s halfway through conference play in Big 12 basketball. Here’s what we know so far about the league so far and who might win the end-of-year awards.

The Big 12 conference might be the most entertaining brand of basketball. Every night there are high-scoring games led by some of the best guards in the country. There have been a bunch of overtime battles and even a few mild upsets along the way.

The Oklahoma Sooners have gotten the attention of everyone thanks to their star freshman, but a few seniors have been just as good, leading their teams to wins. A high number of teams have pretty much punched their tickets to the NCAA tournament, with a few more within striking range. Of course, a certain team continues to defy expectations and remain the juggernaut that some (myself included) doubted early on.

Some surprises have emerged while others have underwhelmed. There also was a surreal moment in regards to Texas, who lost a key player to a serious illness, only to have the rest of the league rise up and show support.

We are at about the halfway mark for the league. A lot has happened, so I would like to give a recap of what’s happened so far. We’ll take a look at the standings, give out some awards for the best players in the league (and coach), and provide some insight to the latest Bracketology surrounding the Big 12 conference.

Lastly, I’ll answer some preseason questions from this league with surprising results, while asking more when it comes to the duration of the regular season. So without further ado, he’s the first half recap of the Big 12.
