Who are the top-10 teams in the nation? The AP has their rankings but who really are the best 10 squads this season. Let’s dive in.

Feb. 3 was a crazy day in college basketball. Six teams ranked in the top-25 lost. Another five won by three or less or in overtime. All 11 of those squads were playing unranked teams. That’s what happens during the conference season. There are four teams in college basketball who have won over 2000 games in college basketball. All four played on that Saturday. Three of those teams lost.

Kentucky, who just a week ago had a huge comeback at West Virginia, fell by nine on the road to a Missouri team that was under .500 in conference play. Kansas, who was looking like a No. 1 seed just a week ago, lost for the third time at home this season to an Oklahoma State team that had lost five straight road games going into the won against the Jayhawks.

Duke topped all of that with a four-point road loss to a St. Johns team that had lost 11 straight and was winless in conference play. The only one of the four who won was North Carolina, who needed a second half to blowout a winless Pittsburgh team.

That Sunday was a little better as all three ranked teams won pretty convincingly, but of course, no one noticed because of some game called the Super Bowl that happened later that evening.

So with all that in mind, you can imagine the large task ahead to rank the top 10 teams in all of college basketball. It is definitely a daunting task but one that a self-proclaimed rankings guru is more than up to the challenge to do. So with all that said, let’s get started with a team that barely snuck into the top 10 despite losing this weekend.
