Summit League play resumes after a brief pause, the last conference game being Saturday. Hence, it is now time to power rank the conference again.
I was high on teams last week, I thought Denver was poised to take another leap forward. However, the Pioneers dropped their lone game of the past week to Fort Wayne. Not only did they lose, but they lost in embarrassing fashion. Due to that blowout, Denver made no progress in this week’s rankings. On the other hand, Fort Wayne jumped up a few slots with that win over the Pioneers.
In other conference news, North Dakota State did not take pull any upsets in their weekend tilts. They dropped games to South Dakota State and South Dakota. Despite being down by over 20 points at times against the Coyotes, the Bison battled back. However, in the end, they were unable to gain enough ground to win the game at home.
Oddly enough, Omaha also moved up in the rankings even though they did set foot on the floor over the past week. Both Oral Roberts and Western Illinois looked shaky, but the Leathernecks beat the Golden Eagles head-to-head. Therefore, Oral Roberts has to drop considering the magnitude of their loss to Western Illinois, who is still in the cellar.
