Even after dropping a home game to Georgetown, Butler basketball is still in decent shape to reach the NCAA Tournament. Here are three reasons why.

In the first season under head coach LaVall Jordan, Butler basketball has been extremely inconsistent. At times, the Bulldogs have looked like a clear-cut top-25 team in the country. At others, though, the team has faltered tremendously. For the most part, they have still been able to come away with much-needed victories. That was the case, of course, before the team dropped a home game to Georgetown on Feb. 13.

Even with this loss, the Bulldogs are still in solid shape to make the NCAA Tournament but their standing is a little more wobbly. The team has work left to do to become a “lock” for the Big Dance and their remaining schedule gives them plenty of opportunities. Despite the fact that Butler is on a three-game losing streak, they have recovered from stretches like this before.

Earlier this season, Butler dropped three straight games to Xavier, Seton Hall, and Creighton. After that losing streak, Jordan’s team responded by winning five of their next six games. If they are able to answer that well this time around, their NCAA Tournament standing will be secure on Selection Sunday.

There are several reasons why Butler will still participate in March Madness. While improving consistency would be great, it might be too late in the season for that to occur. With that being said, here are three key reasons why the Bulldogs should be competing in the Big Dance next month.
