On Feb. 15, Wisconsin basketball will retire Frank Kaminsky’s No. 44 jersey. Let’s relive some of his best moments as a Badger.

It was announced on Dec. 18. that Frank Kaminsky was going to have his No. 44 jersey hang in the Kohl Center forever. The only other Wisconsin basketball player to have this honor is Ab Nicolas, who was a shooting guard from 1949-52. Nicolas was the first Wisconsin player to be named to consecutive First Team All-Big Ten squads.

Coming out of high school in 2011, Kaminsky was a three-star, 6’10” center from Lisle, IL. His rankings were not high but he turned into one of the best college basketball players of this century. After a slow start to his career under head coach Bo Ryan, the big man racked up awards and trophies in his final two seasons.

There are very few players who can boast as many accomplishments as Frank Kaminsky. He finished his Wisconsin career with two Final Fours performances as well as multiple National Player of the Year awards. There have been several great players in Wisconsin basketball history but nobody deserves having their jersey hung in the rafters more than Frank the Tank.

So, in commemoration of the great career by the big man, let’s look back at his tremendous stretch of seasons as well as thank him for his efforts in a Badger uniform.
