On Feb. 17, Providence and Butler will be facing off in a game of massive proportions for the NCAA Tournament selection committee. Both teams are sitting firmly on the bubble at this moment and will be looking to secure high-quality wins such as this one down the stretch. The Friars won the first matchup between these two teams but this time it will be the Bulldogs with home-court advantage.
Butler is on a disappointing three-game losing streak at the moment but two of those losses came to top-5 teams in Xavier and Villanova. Obviously, the defeat at the hands of Georgetown was unexpected and painful but there is time to recover. With this matchup against Providence being a potential Quadrant 1 game, there is no better time to start that recovery than right now.
On the flip side, Providence is heading into this game after picking up an amazing win over Villanova. This was clearly their best win of the year and it came in the aftermath of a disastrous loss to DePaul. The Friars have been inconsistent all season long but a win over the Bulldogs would put them in a tremendous position for the Big East conference tournament.
Now, with the game quickly approaching, here are three keys for Butler in order to defeat Providence at home.
