The Louisville Cardinals go on the road to play Virginia Tech as they look for a sweep of the Hokies while staying in the top-10 of the ACC.

TV Schedule: Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at 1 p.m. ET on CBS

Arena: Cassell Coliseum, Blacksburg, Virginia

There’s currently a big cluster going on in the middle of the ACC. There are seven teams who are all within two wins of each other. They range anywhere from fourth-place to 10th. In other words, the top team of the bunch has a double bye in the Conference Tournament and the last team has to play in the first round.

Right now NC State, Clemson and Virginia Tech are all 9-6 spanning from four to six. Louisville is then tied at 8-6 with two other teams, Florida State and Miami.

The Cardinals have been doing enough to stay above water. Their biggest wins have come against Florida State and Virginia Tech. The win over the Seminoles was on the road and the victory against the Hokies came at home. Their best non-conference wins have come against Indiana and Memphis.

Virginia Tech was soul-searching at the end of January when they lost two straight to these Cardinals and Florida State. They were then able to knock off North Carolina which seemed to be that win to put themselves over the hump. After winning two more, the Hokies lost to Miami. They answered with a victory over Virginia. Then came a loss to Duke, but Virginia Tech bounced back two games later and beat Clemson. The Hokies have picked up wins against four out of the top five ACC teams.

Furthermore, Virginia Tech only has NC State and Clemson once on their schedule and picked up victories against both. In other words, Virgina Tech is in position to slide into fourth-place and pick up a double-bye in the ACC Tournament which starts in a week and a half.
