Helping Out Brian Bowen

Donation: $100,000

Everyone around the Louisville star recruit seems to have gotten paid except him. As a result, he’s not being given the opportunity to play the game he loves and that will ultimately provide him with a better life at the next level. Will Bowen get to play at the next level? Most likely. He’s extremely talented and we don’t need a season at Louisville to tell us this. However, it’s kind of messed up that his Dad got all of his money, cost him his eligibility and he has to answer all of the questions.

Putting HBCU’s on the Map

Donation: $400,000

One thing that I’ve always wondered about college sports is the lack of success of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Whether it be football, soccer or basketball, HBCUs seem to always be on the lower end of Division I athletics. Part of this has to do with recruiting, but a lot of it has to do with exposure and finances. HBCUs provide a unique campus environment that is different from any other major college basketball school.

In terms of style and environment, HBCUs are leaps and bounds ahead of major college campuses. Give these schools a little bread to upgrade facilities and pay coaches and see what happens.
