How healthy will Keenan Evans be for Saturday?

Last Saturday, the senior suffered a toe injury in the first half against Baylor and was unable to return to the game. The Red Raiders fell by a couple of points without their leading scorer.

Good news was that it wasn’t considered a serious injury, and Evans was going to play on Wednesday at Oklahoma State. But it was clear that he was nowhere near 100%, scoring just two points on 1/7 shooting. His defense also suffered, getting abused by the Cowboy’s Kendall Smith, who went for 21 points and six assists in the win.

Few teams are as depending on one player like Texas Tech is with Evans. While the defense for this team is great, the offense can struggle, because of a lack of proven scorers. One of them was supposed to be senior Zach Smith. He was the team’s second-leading scorer from a year ago, but injuries can derailed him all season.

As for this current team, there are only three players who are averaging over 7.9 ppg. Evans is the only non-freshmen (I’ll bring them up later), and will have a ton on his plate come this weekend. But not only on offense, he’ll have to take on Devonte’ Graham, the leading scorer for the Jayhawks.

In the last meeting between these teams, Evans led the team with 15 points, although he did shoot 4/16 from the field. If his toe injury hurts him in terms of getting to the line, how will he get his offense going?
