What takeaways from the first meeting that could play into this game?

When Texas Tech went into Lawrence and beat the Jayhawks, it was a huge surprise nationally. But in reality, there were some matchups that the Red Raiders were able to take advantage of.

First was what happened on the perimeter. Lagerald Vick had an awful game, going 1/9 (0/6 from deep) from the field. While the Red Raiders aren’t big in the frontcourt, they have great size on the wings, with multiple defenders to throw at opponents. They also use their size to prevent easy passes down low, where they might be vulnerable.

There’s no question that they’ll be in trouble at the point guard position. Graham went off for 27 points and six assists against a healthy Evans last time out. This would be a great spot to put Culver on him, who’s one of the best defenders in the league.

It’s also going to be important for everyone to contribute again for Texas Tech, which is an issue that Kansas has had to deal with all season. More importantly, getting to the free throw line will be crucial in terms of manufacturing points. Last time Chris Beard’s team went 21-25 from the charity stripe, and a similar performance will be needed.
