2. Wendell Carter Jr., Duke

Many of the prominent players named in the Yahoo! report are freshmen and Wendell Carter Jr. is one of the best in the country.

The Atlanta native emerged as a key piece for the Blue Devils, averaging 14.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, while making 58.5% of his shots from the floor.

Allegations against Carter and his family members aren’t particularly extreme. One of the expense reports suggest that there was a meal paid for that cost just over $100; it would rise to the level of an impermissible benefit if the Carter family didn’t pay for it.

Duke does not seem particularly concerned about it. AD Kevin White released a statement, declaring that there were no eligibility concerns relating to the latest report. As a result, the freshman is expected to suit up and endure his usual workload against the Syracuse Orange this Saturday.

Throughout the season, Carter has been generating buzz, not just as a college basketball player, but as a potential NBA Draft lottery selection. Now under the gun of the NCAA, expectations should only rise that he will depart Duke after just one season to make the leap to the pros.

The Blue Devils are ranked No. 5 in the latest AP poll.
