Kansas State

If there was one thing Kansas State wanted to avoid doing, it was losing to the free-falling Oklahoma Sooners, which is exactly what they did. They’re still one of the “Last Four Byes” according to Lunardi, but this weekend’s loss has them trending in the wrong direction.

The Wildcats do hold the fourth best record in the Big 12, which is a major positive, but they haven’t been able to capitalize on opportunities against Texas Tech or Kansas. Without a resume building win, Kansas State is left at the mercy of the committee to find room in the field of 68 for them.

With games against TCU and Baylor remaining, the Wildcats will have chances to make the case that they belong. Since they currently are in according to most experts, winning these two games should be enough. But it is a major red flag for the Wildcats to lose to Oklahoma, and they can only hope that this isn’t the start of downward momentum which lands them out of the NCAA tournament entirely.
