(13) Charleston over (4) Auburn

Auburn did not lose a Quadrant 3 or 4 game during the regular season. The Tigers have been consistently excellent all season long so what is the reasoning for this being the most likely 13-over-4 upset? To be fair, the fault is not with Auburn. This upset pick is because of the talent of the Charleston Cougars.

Behind the play of Joe Chealey and Grant Riller, Charleston has a backcourt that can match up with any other in the nation. They are high-volume scorers who have the ability to sneak into the second round of a single-elimination tournament such as this one. We have seen time and time again that having a top-notch scorer can be the difference for a mid-major. However, Charleston does not have one top-notch scorer. They have two.

Unlike years in the past, Auburn is an elite offensive team. This should be a high-scoring affair and one of the best first-round matchups this season. There should be back-and-forth action and it will be plenty of fun to watch.
