(14) Montana over (3) Michigan

We have already written a whole article on this potential upset. While Michigan is arguably the hottest team in the country, they got a tough first-round draw in the Montana Grizzlies. Before jumping into why this is a bad matchup, it is worth asking how hot can Michigan really be right now? Sure, they dominated the end of the Big Ten schedule and the conference tournament but they have had a long time off. This should not affect their play on the court much but I believe it will hurt the momentum that they were carrying.

As for how Montana has the tools to beat them, there are a few big things that stand out. First of all, the Grizzlies are an outstanding rebounding team. Oh, and that is not a statement on the Big Sky being weaker than the Big Ten. Seriously, the Grizzlies are outstanding on the glass. They might be the biggest team, but they box out and utilize team rebounding exceptionally well.

In addition, Michigan has gone through stretches where they cannot find the bottom of the basket this season. I understand that the team is red-hot but all it takes is a few minutes without seeing the ball go through the hoop and Montana could be in front in this game. It is a long shot, but the best bet as a 14-over-3 in my opinion.
