The Vols need to win the battle of the boards

Both teams rely a lot on their defenses and have tendencies to go through scoreless stretches as both are below average shooting teams. Which means their will likely  be a lot of rebounding opportunities.

UT is only an average rebounding team. The Vols have been out-rebounded on 15 occasions this season, posting a 7-8 record in those games. Overall, the Vols have nearly a plus-2 rebounding margin.

Wright State is also just an average rebounding team. The Raiders have won the battle of the boards 21 times, and are 18-3 in those games. The Raiders are 7-5 in contests where they have been out-rebounded.

So, you can see how  important it is for the Vols to at least match the Raiders totals.

Offensive rebounding is one thing that the Vols does well. The Vols rank 62nd in offensive rebounding with over 12 a game.

Schofield leads the team with 6.3 rebounds a game. Schofield grabs 18.9%  of all available defensive boards, which also tops the squad.

Alexander is the top percentage rebounder, grabbing a board at 15.9% of the time when is on the floor. Reserve forward Derrick Walker is second on the team at 14.9%.
