4. Purdue Boilermakers (2 seed)

Strength: The Edwards

The loss of Haas hurts bad, but the Boilermakers have a pair of guys with the same last name who have stepped up big. In the blowout first-round win over Cal State Fullerton, each guy led the way with 15 points each.

Butler was going to be a tough game, but Vince Edwards had 20 points to help steer clear of the Bulldogs. He along with leading scorer Carsen Edwards make Purdue a Final Four threat easily, with or without Haas.

Weakness: Tough remaining field

This is a very tough group of teams left, including a pair of defensive juggernauts in Texas Tech and West Virginia, as well as the top scoring team in the nation in Villanova. Even at full-strength, this was going to be a hard couple of games coming.

The matchups themselves are going to be tough, with each team having a star point guard to lead them. Senior guard Dakota Mathias will have to not only facilitate the offense while dealing with them, he’ll have to guard them (all lead their respective team in scoring) as well. Although Purdue has the “lowest” chances to make the Final Four, it’s possible they can make the trip still.
