March Madness: Top players from the Elite 8 teams
We’ve reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a look at the players who’ve navigated March Madness to get their teams here.
When the 2018 NCAA Tournament originally started there was an incredible amount of talent amassed between the 68 teams. In fact, we ranked the top-100 guys that would have the biggest impact in this year’s event. Some players that were ranked pretty highly turned out not so impactful. Meanwhile, those ranked low or not even at all have had tremendous success in the Big Dance.
Once the teams went from 68 all the way down to 16, we decided to do a more exclusive list, listing the top 25 guys left still playing. Some of them rose to the occasion, while the struggles of others caused them and their team to go home.
Now there are eight teams left: Loyola-Chicago, Kansas State, Michigan, Florida State, Duke, Kansas, Villanova and Texas Tech. I would say that five of these are realistic, while three others are a surprise. But that’s how March Madness works.
For our next list, I’ve decided not to do another ranking, since the talent advantage for some teams would make it unfair. So what I’m going to do is simply list the best player on each team, display their stats, and state the impact they’ll have on the upcoming Elite Eight games. If these guys struggle, then it’ll be a good indicator of which team is going to advance to the Final Four.
So going by matchup, here are the top players for each remaining team.
