After two years with the Pacific Tigers, forward Jack Williams has decided to transfer. A new system could benefit the grad transfer for next season.
After two seasons on a Pacific roster that has been struggling to find consistency, forward Jack Williams will be transferring to a new program.
Williams, who came into Pacific after spending his freshman year at Long Beach State, was one of two players to start all 32 games for the Tigers this season. His efficiency and effort on the boards help lift Pacific to a 9-9 record in WCC play, after starting the season 5-8 in non-conference play.
Since Williams will graduate in May, he will be immediately eligible to play in the 2018-2019 season. Mid-Major teams looking for a scoring four will take a long look at Williams, who can score the basket or step out for three.
While the offensive system under Head Coach Damon Stoudamire relied heavily on attacking the basket from the perimeter, Williams scoring ability got lost behind Roberto Gallinat, Miles Reynolds and Jahlil Tripp. If he can find an offense that utilizes his ability to shoot from the perimeter, he could easily average double digits.
Moving forward, it will be interesting to see how Pacific fills in the gap left by Williams. With Williams transferring and Namdi Okonkwo graduating, the Tigers tallest returning player is Anthony Townes at 6’6”. There are a few JUCO transfers on the radar, but they have no current commitments at either the four or five positions.

For Williams, there are sure to be multiple offers on the horizon. It will be interesting to see where he winds up, but a return to the Big West or move to the Big Sky wouldn’t be out of the question. As for Pacific, it hurts the team’s depth but it’s by no means a devastating blow.
