Kansas Basketball: How the Jayhawks reached the Final Four
What winning a national championship would mean for Kansas
When listing the top college basketball programs in the country, Kansas is always on the shortlist. Another title would give them the edge over teams like Duke and Kentucky, thanks to recency bias. An argument can be made that the Jayhawks have been the most consistently great team in recent memory when you take a look at those Big 12 titles.
Of course, there have also been complaints that the school hasn’t done enough in March, despite their advantageous seedings. Kansas has had their fair share of upsets, but when you’re in the Big Dance literally every year those things are likely to happen.
Those early exits have also been the reason why Self hasn’t been listed right up there with the greats like Izzo, Coach K, Boeheim, and even the previous coach at Kansas and current North Carolina great Roy Williams. A second championship would eliminate those critiques and solidify him as an all-time great.
