Michigan Basketball: How the Wolverines reached the Final Four

What a national title would mean for Michigan

First and foremost, it would be the biggest thumb to the eye of rival Michigan State. They were next to Duke the favorites to win it all at the beginning of the season and lost early in the NCAA Tournament once again.

As far as the program, it would elevate them to a status among the truly top teams in college basketball on a year-to-year basis. It’s safe to say that they’re part of a second-tier of teams, consistently good but not great. It also would unlock the gate of the top high-school players in the country, maybe even a few who might have gone to Michigan State.

The biggest winner would be head coach Jon Beilein, who already has one of the best reputations in the coaching world. He’s never been involved in any scandals (knock knock), and has seemingly won with less all the time.

Next: Michigan is going to the Final Four

He already has a Final Four to his name, and a title win would cement his legacy as an all-time great. Michigan has found themselves a coach who likely will spend the rest of his days there, and it would be great to see him cut down the final nets of the season,
