Who was the third best point guard in the Big 12?

For this season, the fourth best point guard in the Big 12 would probably be at worst the second best in every other league. Young and Graham were on the first teams, and while the Sooner freshman didn’t have a great last month, his overall body of work warranted a first-team selection. And if you don’t believe me, watch what Oklahoma does next year without him.

As far as the other two elite ball handlers, I have a slight issue with their spots. West Virginia’s Carter was on the second-team, while Texas Tech’s Evans was on the third-team. The Mountaineer has better overall numbers, including doubling the Red Raider in rebounds. But as far as impact goes, the senior gets a big edge.

Coming into the season, West Virginia was a ranked team while Texas Tech was an afterthought. The Red Raiders also weren’t considered a threat to Kansas’ at the top of the Big 12, while the Mountaineers were the top contender.

But led by Evans, who had less talent around him than Carter, was the closest to dethroning Kansas for the regular-season title. He was an outstanding scorer who ultimately led Texas Tech to their first-ever Elite Eight appearance. Carter was an outstanding player as well, but Evans deserves some extra credit for the season.
