JR James Palmer – Nebraska Cornhuskers

2017-18 stats: 17.2 ppg 4.4 rpg 3.0 apg

One of the reasons why I don’t complain about players transferring is because sometimes there needs to be a change of scenery for them.

Case in point James Palmer, who played minimal minutes in his first two years at Miami. His skillset didn’t match with how the Hurricanes operate on the perimeter, so moving to a Nebraska team who desperatly needed scoring was a good idea.

It was a great season for both the transfer and the Cornhuskers, as they had their best team season since arriving at the Big Ten. Palmer was the primary reason, leading the team in scoring while having just two games all year where he didn’t reached double figures.

There were a number of games where he had a huge night, including back-to-back 28 point games against Iowa and Wisconsin, and a career-high 34 point performance at Ohio State.

Palmer isn’t the greatest pure shooter in the world, and he knows it. But he’ll get to the free throw line as much as anyone in the country, with six games with at least 10 attempts shots from the charity stripe.

If Palmer returns, Nebraska has a great shot at getting back to the Big Dance.
