Which player on each of the four teams led his school to San Antonio to compete in the Final Four? These four players are worthy of extra recognition.

With three matchups which ultimately turned out to be decisive victories for Michigan, Villanova, and Villanova again, the final four and 2018 NCAA basketball tournament is in the rearview mirror. The Wildcats have been crowned champions for the second year within the past three, and recruiting for the 2018-2019 season is in full swing.

The tournament had thrilling moments, from UMBC’s historic upset of Virginia to the remarkable Cinderella run of Loyola Chicago. With the final four being the ultimate destination for all 68 teams besides winning it all, the four teams that competed in San Antonio this past weekend went on long journeys to give their fan base seasons to remember.

With so much going into a final four run, these teams each had to have a mix of talent, leadership, and possibly luck, or supernatural interference. With the last of these three elements not being attributed to any one part of the team (except possibly Sister Jean and Loyola), we will focus on the first two, and their impact of each of these teams and their runs to the final four.

Though multiple players can and most often do have notable talent and leadership ability on teams that make the final four, there is often one player that exhibits these characteristics far more. This year, that was especially the case, which is why we can pick out clear MVPs for each of these four teams.
