Oklahoma was deep into the transfer market looking for a guard, and they were able to get one, in Pacific’s Miles Reynolds.

A few days into the college basketball off-season, Oklahoma was in pressing need of a guard. Trae Young expectedly went off to the NBA, while Kameron McGusty and Jordan Shepard each decided to transfer away from the program.

That left just rising Junior Christian James and a huge need for a true ball handler for the offense. A number of names were linked o the program, with visits and everything set up. But one player jumped on the offer and became the newest Oklahoma Sooner.

After starting his career out at St. Louis, the Chicago IL. native decided to head west to the Pacific, a program struggling to gain footing in the West Coast Conference. After sitting out a season, Miles Reynolds was ready to go.

It turned out to be a positive investment by the Tiger’s program, with Reynolds starting 20 games, and posting career-high numbers across the board, in what turned out to be Pacific’s best season ever in the WCC.

The junior played a big role in the team’s success, including scoring 12 times in double figures in a 13 game span. Reynolds had 16 points in the home upset over BYU, and played at least 35 minutes in all but two games in conference play. Pacific will have to find a way to replace his production.

As for Oklahoma, this won’t be a “breaking news alert” but this a good pickup for them. The grad transfer is a 38% three-point shooter, who could get to the free throw line, evident by his close to 200 attempts for the season. Reynolds can create his own shot, while still facilitating for others.

The grad transfer market is still coming together, and there’s no telling who will become available on a moment’s notice. But I’m sure there won’t be much better than Reynolds, who will have a positive impact in his one and only season in Norman.
