There are just a single-digit number of high-level 2018 recruits that are without a team for next season. Where will those future stars end up?

The 2017-18 college basketball season is over, and teams are already underway with preparing for next year, getting as many transfers to replenish their talent pool.

There is still some high school prospect having yet to decide, waiting it out until late spring and even early summer. When it comes to the best of the best, several guys are still available who can change the fortunes of whichever team that gets them.

There are several highly reputable recruiting sites, but one of the best is 247sports, whose composite rankings of prospects are an outstanding source to use (rankings in this piece reflect what 247 has).

According to them, there are just seven top 100 players left without a team. At the beginning of the week, there were nine uncommitted prospects. Devonaire Doutrive, the No. 82 ranked player in the rankings, decided to go to the rebuilding Arizona Wildcats. Then the 12th ranked player, forward EJ Montgomery, became a Kentucky Wildcat, continuing John Calipari’s success at getting great players.

That leaves seven players left, each with a reason as to why they’ve still yet to pick a team. Here are the top prospects, as well as who is courting them at the moment.

Myreon Jones (No. 97 ranked prospect) –  Combo guard

Originally committed to Memphis, Jones opened up his options after Tubby Smith was fired. With the high-profile hiring of Penny Hardaway, there is still a possibility he’ll go with the Tigers.

If he chooses elsewhere, the Birmingham, Alabama native will likely go in the SEC, with Auburn, Alabama and Ole Miss in the equation.

Prediction: Memphis doesn’t have a point guard next season, and former NBA star Hardaway is well-respected in the basketball community. It was smart for Jones to decommit after the coaching change, but I think he goes back.
