Anfernee Simons (No. 7 ranked prospect) – Shooting guard

Another ex-Louisville commit, Simons has opened up his recruitment to just about every team who wants him. But it’s interesting, as he seemed to shy away from the very best schools. That makes his decision all the more important, as most of the listed teams will rarely get a guy like him.

The potential teams for Simons include NC State, Florida Tennessee, South Carolina, Memphis and Minnesota. He could start right away for any of them and could be the difference between a tournament bid or not.

Prediction: As an Orlando, Florida native, he could go to the Gators. Memphis has been gunning for him hard as well, so watch out for them. But I’m going with the upset pick of the Vols, who’ll be an instant SEC favorite if they can get him.

*Update: Looks like the team who gets him will be in the NBA, as Simons has declrared for the NBA Draft with an agent.

Romeo Langford (No. 5 ranked prospect) – Combo guard

The top remaining uncommitted player left in the 2018 recruiting class, the options for Langford are well documented. It’s between Kansas, Indiana, and Vanderbilt, each with a clear pitch to get his signature.

He could join a pair of McDonald’s All-Americans and friends with the Commodores, stay home with the Hoosiers who have a promising future or go to the juggernaut Jayhawks, who send their guards to the NBA consistently.

Prediction: He’s kept his cards close to his vest, so any of the three could reasonably get him. The backcourt is crowded at Kansas, so I doubt he goes there. It’s tempting for him to go to Vandy, but Indiana’s history and ability to play him out the gate will be too much for Langford to pass up.
