12. Notre Dame Fighting Irish 21-15 (8-10)

2017-18 postseason result: NIT Second Round

Season Grade: C

What started out as a Final Four caliber team turned into a disappointing team finish as injuries to Bonzie Colson and Matt Farrell derailed the team. Another issue was freshman DJ Harvey going down as well, losing out on an opportunity to grow as the top offensive option.

Notre Dame tried their best to get back into the Big Dance late, but it was just too little too late. Now they’re losing two popular and talented seniors, as they enter a new era with a new crop of players.

11. Louisville Cardinals 22-14 (9-9)

2017-18 postseason result: NIT Third Round

Season Grade: B

This was an NCAA Tournament team, based on the talent that was returning. Unfortunately for them, a lack of quality wins doomed the Cardinals at-large hopes.

This grade is simply a reflection of what the team went through, losing their head coach and top NBA prospect. Things could’ve gone south this season, but credit to everyone involved for staying with it and not letting the constant distractions ruin them.

10. Boston College Eagles 19-16 (7-11)

2017-18 postseason result: NIT First Round

Season Grade: B-

This season wasn’t going to be determined by wins and losses, but rather by the growth the team showed throughout. They took a huge blow in the non-conference with grad transfer forward Deontae Hawkins going down for the season.

That Duke win to open ACC play was the biggest the program had in years, and including the ACC Tournament, had nine total wins in league play. The Eagles were still prone to get blown out at times, but all in all, they showed well this year.
