Nevada was the last Mountain West Basketball team standing this season. Here’s how the Wolf Pack and the other teams were ranked and graded out to end the year.

11. San Jose State Spartans 4-26 (1-17)

2017-18 postseason result: None

Season Grade: F

After losing the team’s best player in the off-season, the Spartans were expected to be bad. But this bad? San Jose State had just three wins form D-1 teams, and only has a two-point win over Utah State during conference play.

With only six Mountain West losses by less than double-digits, this team was a complete doormat from start to finish. It’s a program with nowhere to go but up – they just have to start moving there.

10. Colorado State Rams 11-21 (4-14)

2017-18 postseason result: None

Season Grade: F

From a talent perspective, this team had no business finishing where they did in the standings. But off the court distractions involving the coaching staff and players doomed them, losing 12 of the final 13 games of the season. If nothing was going on outside, as well as JD Paige not getting hurt, maybe Colorado State would’ve been a factor.

9. Air Force Falcons 12-19 (6-12)

2017-18 postseason result: None

Season Grade: C-

At least Air Force clearly separated themselves from the very bottom, sweeping both San Jose State and Colorado State this season. And while the Falcons had their fair share of getting blown out, there were also some nailbiters. It’s more of a moral victory, but Air Force wasn’t a doormat as they have been in the past.
