Louisville Cardinals

Louisville is very thin at the lead guard position after Quentin Snider’s graduation. Darius Perry is a nice player but is more of a scorer than a facilitator and Ryan McMahon is better off the ball as a shooter.

Both Perry and McMahon will play, but the Cardinals definitely need an experienced PG to return to the NCAA Tournament. Fortunately, they have been linked to many grad transfer PGs who could realistically commit.

Zach Johnson from Florida Gulf Coast averaged 16.1ppg and 3.0apg while shooting 39% from 3. Johnson is visiting Arizona, Miami, and Creighton, in addition to Louisville, but if he wants major minutes at PG Louisville is the most logical fit.

Mike Cunningham for USC Upstate has listed Oklahoma State, Tulane, and Louisville and while all three schools can offer substantial playing time, Louisville figures to be the best team in this group. Lastly, Joseph Chartouny is considering Marquette and Louisville and both schools could really use a starting PG. Chartouny is the best fit due to his defense and play-making.

Chartouny is the best fit and should be the priority, but Cunningham and Johnson are strong alternatives.
