With Elijah Bryant going off to the pros, BYU Basketball has taken a major hit. What will the 2018-19 roster look like now?

Even though this past season had plenty of ups and downs, BYU Basketball was hoping for a bright future. There were no seniors on the roster, and potentially three different players who at one point were four-star prospects were expected to come along the pipeline. All Dave Rose and the Cougars had to do was avoid major departures and things would be just fine.

Of course, since entering the West Coast Conference, things haven’t gone BYU’s way. That once again proved true, with the announcement by Elijah Bryant himself that he’ll be foregoing his final season and going pro.

This is a huge blow for the team, as he led the team in scoring with 18.2 ppg, while finishing second in both rebounds (6.3 rpg) and assists (2.3 apg). He along with Yoeli Childs were the main sources of offense for the Cougars and replacing him will be close to impossible.

Still, things can go from bad to worse for the program. Nick Emery is slated to return from a one-year hiatus from the school but could change his mind. As for Childs, he’s already declared for the NBA Draft without an agent, but who knows what he’ll do.

Throw in possible transfers both in and out, as well as returning Mormon missionaries, and the roster could look extremely different from this past year. Here’s a look by position at what’s in store for BYU.
