There have been around 50 NCAA Basketball coaching changes this past season. Which were the biggest home runs?

North Carolina State needed a new head coach this past off-season and decided upon Kevin Keatts from North Carolina-Wilmington. He had a good run with the Seahawks, but it was always going to be a question as to whether he’d have success in the ACC.

Keatts answered those questions by taking the Wolfpack to the NCAA Tournament while having a ton of talent waiting in the wings for the next few years.

For the 50 or so college basketball teams who have undergone coaching changes, NC State’s past season will be what they’re hoping for. Many of those programs had to fire their previous coach after underwhelming performances, while others had to find replacements after teams pried them away.

Of all the new coaching hires, there was a number that has a chance to change the directions of their respective programs. If successful, it could not only change that particular team but the conferences they play in as well.

That being said, if the new hires don’t work out too well, it could set the schools back for several years. And with transfers leaving at a higher rate than ever, dealing with new head coaches can sometimes start a complete rebuild, rather than building off of the current rosters.

With the previously top available jobs having all been filled, let’s look at the 10 best coaching hires from this off-season.
