The Nevada basketball team has landed a major addition who will improve their interior in Trey Porter. The transfer from Old Dominion has committed to the Wolf Pack for his final year in college basketball.

One of the Cinderella stories of the 2018 NCAA tournament has improved even more. The Nevada Wolf Pack were nationally ranked for a brief period of time near the end of the regular season, and went on to come back from two double-digit deficits, defeating Texas and Cincinnati in the tournament before seeing their magical run end at the hands of the Loyola Ramblers.

Now, the Wolf Pack are poised to make another run after picking up a talented transfer from Old Dominion.

Trey Porter is a 6-foot-10 and 230 pounds, with a large frame at the center position. His physicality is a strength, but Porter is a skilled player in many areas.

Last season with the Monarchs he averaged 13.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. He plays well in the paint on both ends of the floor, with the ability to post up as well as protect the rim.

This is a major step for Porter, who began his career at George Mason. After transferring to nearby Old Dominion, all within the vicinity of his hometown in Virginia, he is now going across the country with one year of eligibility left and competing for a team that is turning into a legitimate final four contender.

Very quietly, Old Dominion went 25-7 overall last season and 15-3 in the competitive Conference USA. Porter was a key piece of this effort. Now, the former soccer player looks to make a similar contribution to a promising Nevada Wolf Pack team.

The Wolf Pack are beginning to gain some national attention, which has given them a boost in recruiting as well as getting a transfer the likes of Porter. With an improving team, there is no telling what Nevada might accomplish in 2018-19, when it comes to both the regular season and NCAA tournament.
