NBA Draft 2018: Mock First Round Projections 1.0
30. Atlanta (from Houston): Jacob Evans, SF
The last of three picks in the opening round for Atlanta, the most of any team, could go several different directions. They’re going to need to get a versatile player who can shoot at 30th overall, which brings players like Grayson Allen, Bruce Brown, and De’Anthony Melton into the conversation. The only problem is, Allen and Brown are major question marks, and Melton has been involved in a FBI probe.
Instead, these players will go early in the second round, and the Hawks will stick with Cincinnati’s Jacob Evans. Evans has shot making ability and can create for himself. He is also coachable and has worked well with teammates his entire life. At 30th overall, this is the type of contributor the Hawks desperately need.
29. Brooklyn (from Toronto): Hamidou Diallo, SG
It didn’t take long for a Kentucky underclassman to be featured in this mock draft. Diallo had a productive season in his first and only year with the Wildcats, and while many have him going in the second round, he has the skills and athleticism to sneak into the first.
Kentucky has a good track record when it comes to first round draftees, so Brooklyn can be relatively confident that Diallo will work out. They’re going to need to really like their selection here, with it being their only pick in the first round.
