NCAA Basketball: Impact of Romeo Langford’s looming decision
Romeo Langford will be making a huge decision concerning his college basketball future. One that will have a tremendous impact on Kansas, Indiana, and Vanderbilt.
At 7:00 p.m. on April 30, Romeo Langford will finally be making his choice on which team he will play for on the 2018-19 college basketball season. He’s one of just a few of top-100 high school prospects uncommitted, with a shortlist of teams at his disposal.
Throughout his recruitment process, there appeared to be just three teams truly in play for his services – all with distinct reasons why Langford should join them.
The first choice is the Indiana Hoosiers, his “home school” option. Being from New Albany, Indiana there is some pressure on him to stay local, and joining Archie Miller would make him a local legend, even if it’s for a year.
The Vanderbilt Commodores might be a surprise choice until you discover that Langford is close friends with a couple of other five-star recruits that are already headed there. He could go there with no pressure and ball out for while getting as much playing time as possible.
Finally is the Kansas Jayhawks. They easily offer him the best chance at winning, while still getting a chance to start on a team who’s replacing their starting perimeter. But unlike the other two options, he won’t be “the guy”.
There are pros and cons with every option, and it’s been discussed before on not only here, but many other sites and college basketball discussions. I’m going to take a different viewpoint, and look at the consequences of Langford choosing – or not choosing the available choices.
