The Defense Idolizing

Notable Fans: Syracuse, West Virginia, Virginia, Cincinnati…

Let’s be honest, we have all heard the old argument that defense wins championships, and for the most part defense is an integral part of any championship strategy. However, these fans take it a step further by focusing solely on their team’s defense while ignoring the glaring issues on the other end of the floor.

Whether it is the zone, press, or just straight hardnosed physical defense, these fans believe their system is the best. If anyone argues against them, they will point to any stat they can muster, and try to spin it in their favor.

The Defense Idolizing fan thinks that no change is needed in their teams approach to basketball, even though teams rarely if ever win the National Championship without a strong offense (Syracuse had Carmelo Anthony when they won). That doesn’t matter to them, as the minute they lose it is because a team got hot and not because of their low scoring offense.
