The Newly Successful

Notable Fans: Nevada, Texas Tech…

Let’s be honest, few things are more annoying than teams who get a taste of success and walk around like they are a gift to humanity. The Newly Successful fans will take a small piece of success and run with it, acting as if their single Elite Eight appearance is more impressive than a team’s four straight Sweet 16s, or two National Championships in three years.

What makes these fans even more insufferable is that they insist that everyone should pay attention to their school, even though everyone already knows. They will have you believing that their school is now a top destination for high school recruits and transfers, while ignoring the idea of fit, play time and competition.

We all hope that these schools can continue their success and make college basketball that much more intriguing to watch, but their fans make it hard to root for them. Word to the wise, sometimes a snub after a successful year is a good thing.
