Many of the top transfer targets have already picked a new school. Another one has emerged, in Zane Martin from Towson University.

Hundreds of NCAA Basketball players have transferred since the beginning of the off-season in April. A ton of them has already picked new homes, with some still looking around.

There are still going to be some more names announcing that they’ll be leaving their respective programs in the coming weeks. One of them just recently made some news, possibly being the best available transfer out on the market.

After playing around 14 minutes a game his freshman season, Zane Martin exploded this past year for the Towson Tigers. He averaged 19.8 ppg 3.5 rpg 2.7 apg while shooting 38% from three-point range. He was Second-Team All-Colonial Athletic Association and was third in the league in scoring.

Martin had a number of monster scoring efforts, including back-to-back 30+ point efforts in conference play, as well as a career-high 36 points, six rebounds and six assists in the regular season finale against Hofstra. The 6’4 guard led Towson to an 18-14 (8-10) record, and now he’s looking for another team.

With just about all of the top recruits projected to make an impact gone, as well as many transfers off the board, this is a great opportunity for teams who missed out on a good guard to get one with big potential. Martin will have to sit the 2018-19 season, but will have two years to play with his new team. Already suitors are lining up, looking to set up a visit.

Other teams not listed but also involved are Gonzaga, Ole Miss, Louisville, Loyola-Chicago and Cincinnati. It;s incredibly early in the process and it’ll probably be about a week or so before a true list of options will be available.

Some of these programs are in desperate need of some guard depth, so getting Martin will alleviate the staff of searching for an impact perimeter player for the future. With not too many other options available, expect the battle for him to be a fierce one.
